Waze is one of ITS mobile application enabling users to share and peek the real-time-condition of surrounding traffic, while providing accurate navigation.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

JAKARTA\u2014 Road infrastructure is the vein of the economy, integrating the management of national competitiveness. Quality road infrastructure serves as accountable parameter of free trade era which relies on the flow of goods and services.<\/p>\n

The easy flow of land transportation increases when there is connectivity between the condition of the highway with vehicles. Such connectivity can be established through the support of information and communication technology (ICT) which is today already applied by industry. The circumstances that create connectivity between the vehicle and the highway (road infrastructure) are also called intelligent transport systems (intelligent transportation system, ITS).<\/p>\n

The transport system is expected to provide service for the traffic\u2019s order and flow. The goal is to avoid the waste of energy in the transport sector. Synergies of planning and construction of public infrastructure as well as transport modes and the planning of national land transport system is one of the factors supporting the industry in the global competition. In the wake of development of road infrastructure and ITS, GAIKINDO has been cooperating with the Government and relevant institutions.<\/p>\n

Jakarta, the ITS Pilot in Indonesia<\/strong>
\nIn line with ITS initiatives around the world, the Government through the Ministry of Transportation also has initiated the development of ITS in Indonesia, followed by the establishment of the organization ITS Indonesia on 26 April 2011. The Indonesian ITS is an organization set up jointly that involves scholars, industry, and government agencies.<\/p>\n

They aim to encourage the development and utilization initiatives and intelligently information and communication technology-based transport system in Indonesia in order to build safe and user-friendly infrastructure and transportation system.<\/p>\n

In 2013 Ministry of Transport began operating ITS which has three sub-systems:
\n1. Bus tracking system (BTS) to track the whereabouts of Trans Jakarta buses and set operations,
\n2. Area traffic control system (ATCS) that serves to regulate traffic lights, especially when there is congestion. Since February 2013, there are 90 buses of Trans Jakarta that operate in Corridor 1 equipped with GPS and 12 intersections have been connected to the ATCS. In Jakarta there are about 250 intersections which will be connected to the ATCS gradually.
\n3. Traffic information system (TIS) is the electronic information in the form of messages, images, symbols or writing dynamic for road users.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
