DETIK\u2014<\/strong> More and more brands of EV, mostly from China, are swarming Indonesia market. In March 2025, BYD became the best-selling EV in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on whole-sale data at the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO), BYD’s luxury brand sub-brand, Denza, is the top-selling. Though only one product has been brought to Indonesia, the Denza D9, the premium MPV has received a positive response from the Indonesian people, with 1,587 units as of March 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In second place, it is proven that MPVs are still popular with the Indonesian people. This is reflected in the sales of the BYD M6. The battery-powered 7-seater MPV was able to sell 1,293 units. Completing the top three is still held by BYD. The 5-seater SUV Sealion 7 made total whole sales 1,182 units in March. This car was just launched in February 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chery J6 also caught the attention of the Indonesian public. The producer vows to double the production of the electric-powered boxy SUV in Indonesia. As of March 2025, 987 J6 units were delivered to dealers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wuling, which was the first to market EV with its ABC Stories strategy, is still in the top 10. Its best-selling products are the Wuling Air EV with 471 units, BinguoEV with 468 units, and Cloud EV with 266 units. Another brand that has jumped significantly is AION. The brand increased by 503.1 percent compared to the previous month. As of March 2025, AION distributed 959 units, while in February, AION only distributed 159 units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the South Korean brand Hyundai, which has locally assembled its products in Indonesia, did not make it into the top 10 best-selling electric cars. The Hyundai Kona as the cheapest electric car marketed by Hyundai was only distributed as many as 37 units. (*)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
