GIIAS 2016 to Have 5,000 SM more for Public’s Comfort

JAKARTA— The Association of Indonesia Automotive Industry (GAIKINDO) on Tuesday 2 February 2016 announced its OICA-endorsed car exhibition—“GAIKINDO Indonesia Auto Show 2016” (GIIAS). The biggest car auto show in Southeast Asia and the only official car show by GAIKINDO will take place from 11 to 21 August 2016 at ICE Building, BSD City, Jakarta outskirt.

GAIKINDO Chairman Mr Sudirman MR expressed the organisation’s commitment to showcasing the auto show in sustainable manner. Having succeeded with the previous “GIIAS 2015”, GAIKINDO is eager to make “GIIAS 2016” a benchmark of Indonesian automotive development in international level.

“Endorsement and accreditation from OICA (to the auto show) encourages us to develop GIIAS to become one of the world’s best auto shows in the next five years within OICA’s calendar,” Mr Sudirman said.

OICA’s endorsement and accreditation helps GIIAS to win international attention. And in turn, this will pave way for Indonesian automotive industry to show its achievement to the world— especially its vast potential for automotive industry growth. “This at the end will bring further impetus to Indonesian automotive industry at large,” Mr Sudirman said.

In 2016 GIIAS will utilise larger area by 5,000 square meters to become totally 96,577 square meters. There are initially some 34 car brands that immediately claimed to take part in the auto show as exhibitors. They are BMW, Chevrolet, Datsun, Daihatsu, Dodge, Fiat, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Jaguar, Jeep, KIA, Land Rover, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Renault, Suzuki, Tata Motors, Toyota, VW, Wuling, FAW, DFSK, Hino, Isuzu, Mitsubishi Fuso, Tata Motors, UD Truck.

Mr Johnny Darmawan (Head of GIIAS Organising Committee) said that the auto show by GAIKINDO has become the most favourable car exhibition for APMs (carmakers and car distributors in Indonesia) to showcase their latest models. Besides, GIIAS has come to terms with community and customers.

Andy Wismarsyah, President Director of Seven Events, an organiser that GAIKINDO appoints to hold the event, explained that GIIAS 2016 will prioritise public’s needs for comforts. There will be more supporting facilities, as well. “We also stage the “11th Indonesia International Automotive Conference” IIAC. There are some things new in the car show, such as programmes to celebrate the Indonesia’s 71st Independence Day on 17th August,” said Mr Andy. (*)
