GIIAS 2017 Car Exhibition Rolling, Starting from Makassar

MAKASSAR— The Association of Indonesia Automotive Industry (GAIKINDO) has just started a series of GIIAS 2017 car show in Makassar (South Sulawesi). GAIKINDO made Makassar as one of the hosts of GIIAS 2017 series to prove GAIKINDO’s commitment to encouragement of automotive industry in eastern Indonesia, especially South Sulawesi. In 2017, after Makassar, the GIIAS car show series will also take place in several other cities in Indonesia— Jakarta, Surabaya (East Java), Samarinda (East Kalimantan), and Medan (North Sumatra).

In 2016, GIIAS in Makassar successfully brought more than 22 thousand visitors and total transactions of more than Rp 347 billion, with 1,353 units of cars sold in the five-day exhibition. This time, GIIAS Makassar 2017 has a new concept og “First Class Auto Show”. GIIAS Makassar 2017 runs from 10 to 14 May, at Four Points by Sheraton Hotel.

In the exhibition area of ​​6,350 square meters, GIIAS Makassar 2017 features more than 35 exhibitors. In addition to several brands of car that showcase their latest products, there are also a number of famous motorcycle brands, accessories industry, ranging from audio, window film, car wash, leather upholstery, and others, as well as a variety of automotive community gathering programs, entertainment, and test Drive.

Chairman III of GAIKINDO and Chairman of GIIAS 2017 Exhibition Mr Rizwan Alamsjah said GIIAS Makassar 2017 becomes an opportunity for carmakers and other exhibitors to meet and interact with industry players, government and society. GIIAS is an international car exhibition that can provide an overview and information to the local market about the latest developments of the global automotive industry as well as automotive industry players to keep with the most recent world’s automotive trend.

GAIKINDO’s Secretary Mr Edy Sumedi revealed, vehicle sales in South Sulawesi in the last two years rose significantly. In 2014 the sales accounted for about 2.5 against the national, and in 2016 it rose to 3.6 percent. GAIKINDO expects GIIAS Makassar 2017 to continue to boost sales of automotive products, supported by economic growth of 7 to 7.5 percent in local revenue. “Sales in South Sulawesi are on the seventh rank of national sales,” he said.

The GIIAS Makassar 2017 showcases Daihatsu, Honda, Isuzu, JEEP, KIA, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz Truck, Mitsubishi Motors, and Toyota. (*)
