JAKARTA— The Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO) is once again presenting the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Commercial Vehicle Expo (GIICOMVEC) 2026. This is a business-to-business exhibition dedicated to commercial vehicles. This exhibition is supported by the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia.
This year’s exhibition utilizes a larger and more strategic area, in Hall B, Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) Kemayoran (Jakarta), from April 8-11, 2026. The selection of this new location is GAIKINDO’s effort to accommodate the growing enthusiasm of the industry. The new venue also aims to provide better accessibility for business players exploring modern transportation solutions.
Amidst the challenges facing the Indonesian automotive industry, export figures have actually strengthened. Exports have even achieved an all-time high. This strengthening makes export performance a key pillar of national industrial growth. This includes the commercial vehicle sector, which also makes a strategic contribution.
Throughout 2025, total exports of CBU vehicles to 93 destination countries reached 518,212 units. This figure increased by 9.75 percent compared to 2024’s 472,194 units. Commercial vehicles accounted for nearly 40 percent of total exports, or 20,326 units. Various categories of Indonesia’s leading commercial vehicles are now operational mainstays in the international market.
Putu Juli Ardika (Chairman of GAIKINDO) emphasized the importance of maintaining growth momentum by strengthening the manufacturing base. The record-breaking export achievement in 2025 proves that the quality of Indonesian automotive production has been recognized globally.
“Increasing production volume is crucial to ensure the Indonesian vehicle industry has a strong supply base to meet growing global demand, while also strengthening our position in the global automotive supply chain,” said Putu.
Indonesian car production is expected to reach around 1.2 million units in 2025. Production is predicted to continue to grow. GAIKINDO is optimistic that this production absorption will maximize the Indonesian automotive industry’s annual production capacity, which has reached 2.59 million units.
The 2026 GIICOMVEC is a crucial opportunity to achieve this target. As a business-to-business exhibition, the GIICOMVEC serves as a bridge connecting the national automotive industry with potential buyers, both domestic and international. The presence of international buyers at this exhibition is expected to pave the way for Indonesian commercial vehicle products to be recognized and used in more countries.
“By expanding the market network through this exhibition, export figures can continue to grow and make a greater contribution to the achievements of the Indonesian automotive industry,” he said. (*)
