JAKARTA — Commercial vehicle manufacturer Hino Motors Sales Indonesia (HMSI) introduced a four-wheel-drive bus at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Commercial Vehicle Expo (GIICOMVEC) 2026. This model is designed to meet operational needs in difficult terrain, such as plantations and mining areas.
The bus, with its 4×4 transmission, was developed to support worker mobility from residential areas to work sites, which often face extreme road conditions. The four-wheel-drive system allows power to be distributed simultaneously to the front and rear wheels, improving traction when traversing steep, muddy, and rocky terrain.
Hino stated that it understands that each industrial sector has different operational needs. “With the launch of this latest Hino Bus 136MDBL 4×4, we aim to provide a safe and reliable transportation solution for plantation and mining companies to support worker mobility in operational areas with difficult terrain,” said Alex Sutisna, Vice President Director of HMSI.
This vehicle is also equipped with high ground clearance to support its ability to navigate various field conditions. This aspect is considered crucial for maintaining passenger comfort and safety, especially during high-intensity operations.
This bus uses a Euro 4 Emission Standard engine and is locally manufactured. It has also obtained a Type Test Certificate (SUT), allowing it to be used both off-road and on public roads.
Hino also showcased a number of other commercial vehicles from various segments. In the medium-duty truck category, the Hino 500 Series is widely used for heavy-duty transport and logistics needs. In the light-duty truck segment, Hino showcased the Hino 300 Series, which is focused on distributing goods across various business sectors. In the outdoor area, visitors can see a range of Hino 700 Series heavy-duty trucks, commonly used in the mining industry.
There are also specialized vehicles, such as fire trucks based on Hino chassis, demonstrating the flexibility of commercial vehicles to meet specific needs.
Through its participation in GIICOMVEC 2026, Hino also emphasized its integrated service approach, or total support. This concept encompasses after-sales service, spare parts availability, a dealer network, and digital technology support for vehicle condition monitoring, such as My Hino and Hino Connect. These applications help customers comprehensively monitor vehicle conditions.
This approach is considered crucial in maintaining the continuity of customer business operations, especially in sectors that depend on fleet reliability. By providing products and services targeted to industrial needs, Hino hopes to continue contributing to supporting transportation and distribution activities across various sectors of the national economy.
