JAKARTA—The Statistics Indonesia (BPS) reported that Indonesia’s export performance throughout February 2026 grew amidst global challenges. Exports reached US$22.17 billion. This figure increased by 1.01 percent compared to the same period in 2025, which reached US$21.94 billion.
Statistics Indonesia’s Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics, Ateng Hartono, said this growth was driven by increased exports of several leading commodities, particularly from the manufacturing sector. “This increase in export value was primarily due to increases in several manufacturing commodities,” Ateng said on Wednesday 1 April 2026.
The manufacturing sector remains the main contributor to national exports, reaching US$18.55 billion. Meanwhile, the mining and other sectors contributed US$2.15 billion, and agriculture, forestry, and fisheries contributed US$390 million.
In terms of annual growth, manufacturing industry exports increased by 5.24 percent compared to February 2025. Conversely, the mining and other sectors declined by 18.16 percent. Meanwhile, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries declined by 31.45 percent.
Several commodities supporting the manufacturing industry’s export performance include nickel, crude palm oil (CPO), four-wheeled or more motorized vehicles, agricultural-based organic basic chemicals, and semiconductors and electronic components.
Therefore, the automotive sector is a key contributor, demonstrating significant export performance. This is in line with data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO), which recorded exports of CBU cars in February 2026 reaching 46,585 units, a 16.5 percent increase compared to January 2026.
On an annual basis, domestically manufactured car exports also jumped 26.6 percent compared to February 2025, which reached 36,789 units. Toyota was the largest exporter with 16,859 units, followed by Daihatsu with 11,844 units, and Mitsubishi Motors with 8,710 units. Other brands such as Hyundai, Suzuki, and Honda also contributed to exports.
Exports in CKD form also increased. In February 2026, CKD exports reached 7,898 units, a 30.8 percent increase compared to 6,036 units in January 2026.
Compared to the same period in 2025, the increase reached 79.6 percent, from 4,398 units. Positive performance was also reflected in automotive component exports. In February 2026, component exports reached 16,597,457 pieces, a 33.6 percent month-on-month increase and a 54 percent year-on-year (yoy) increase. (KOMPAS)
