Join Talk Minister of Finance – GAIKINDO on Support for the Automotive Industry

JAKARTA— Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa met with the management of the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO). The meeting took place at the Ministry of Finance Office in Jakarta on Thursday, 9 April 2026. The meeting focused on strengthening the domestic automotive market and accelerating the transition to electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrids in Indonesia.

Minister of Finance Purbaya highlighted the positive trend in the performance of the national automotive market. According to GAIKINDO data, car sales in the first quarter of 2026 increased compared to the same period in 2025. This growth was driven by the increasingly significant surge in EV sales.

Minister Purbaya emphasized that the government is fully committed to providing policy support for the domestic automotive industry. Several key points discussed included increasing competitiveness and the transition in the automotive sector.

“The government is committed to providing support to make the domestic automotive industry more globally competitive, while also encouraging the transition to cleaner vehicles,” said Finance Minister Purbaya in an official statement. (*)
