JAKARTA—
GAIKINDO accomplishes its mission to have an annual automobile exhibition with international performance. A number of Japanese journalists who are covering the automobile exhibition GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) in 2015 admit it. Those Japanese journalists are Mr Kenichi Suzuki (Journalists Automobile Association of Japan), Mr Kazuo Tsubakiyama (Car Watch), Ms Yumi Kawabata (The Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan).
One most visible measure on which their perception about the GIIAS 2015 performance is based on is the venue where the exhibition is taking place— the Indonesia Conference Exhibition (ICE). Located in Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) City at the outskirt of Jakarta, ICE is a newly built building, constructed with modern architecture. It belongs to Sinar Mas land, and is operationally managed by a Germany-based company Deutsche Messe. The massive and luxurious construction has a modern architecture, spacious, and new this year was unveiled.
“Kali ini secara kasat mata pameran mobil GAIKINDO telah meninggalkan kesan lamanya sebagai sebuah pameran yang tadinya masih berkesan kelas lokal. GIIAS 2015 sudah kelihatan sebagai pameran mobil internasional, seperti yang berlangsung di Eropa,” kata Kenichi Suzuki.
“With the naked eye, we see that GAIKINDO’s auto show has embarked from old-style exhibitions towards world class and modern one. In terms of venue, it is now comparable with other international auto shows, including that that it takes place in Europe,” said Mr Kenichi Suzuki.
They hope, such modern facility comes to terms with best performance of each exhibitor— particularly those of Japanese carmakers. “We expect, for example, Toyota comes up with some of his prototype models. Especially the models that are very popular and dominating the Indonesian car market. For example Fortuner and Lexus. And I hear in the near future Toyota is also preparing more recent model of Kijang Innova. That’s what we want to see here,” he said. (*)
