Data GAIKINDO: Pasar Domestik Fluktuatif, Penjualan Double Cabin Melesat

oica-moscowJAKARTA— Car sales in the domestic market in the first quarter of 2017 saw a number of influx. The sales volume in the January-April period appeared on the aggregated data of the Association of Indonesia Automotive Industry (GAIKINDO).

Sales fluctuations were experienced by most car categories. They included categories of sedan, 4×2, 4×4, bus, pickup, truck, and small car (LCGC). An exceptions occured in the double cabin category which actually showed rising volume.

Based on the current definition by GAIKINDO, the double cabin category includes models with 4×2 or 4×4 transmissions, with ranges of engine cylinder capacity (CC), and net weight below five tonnes. Some brands with double cabin models in Indonesia include Chevrolet (Colorado)), Ford (Ranger0, Isuzu (D-MAX), Mazda (BT 50), Mitsubishi (Strada), Nissan (Navara), Renault (Duster), Tata (Xenon), and Toyota (Hilux).

Despite the most exciting percentage of sales increase, the double cabin category only gets a small segment of the entire domestic car market: just 0.9 per cent. The largest segment still comes from category of 4×2 (55.6 per cent), followed by LCGC category (22.5 per cent). (*)
