GAIKINDO History

The Association of Indonesia Automotive Industry was established in 1969. The objective is to become a world-class, professional and independent automotive organization that plays an active role as the Government’s equal partner in developing industry to be adept at competing in the international market.

1969 – The Association of Indonesia Automotive Sole Agents (GAKINDO) and the association of Automobile Assemblers (GAM) were founded.(GAM).

 

1975 – The two organisations merged into the Association of Indonesia Sole Agents and Automobile Assemblers (GAAKINDO).

 

1985 – GAAKINDO evolved into the new organisations called the Association of Indonesia Aotomotive Industries (GAIKINDO). At that moment GAIKINDO had 37 members, comprising sole agents, automobile assemblers and manufacturers of main components.
